Subotica, August 28, 2025. - In the City of Subotica, after the first phase of the lamp replacement project in the suburbs, savings amount to more than 1 million euros, instead of the projected 360 thousand euros over a period of four years. Today, the second phase of the project's implementation was successfully completed, which will result in additional savings of around 1.9 million euros in the budget over the next 15 years.
This second phase of the project additionally ensured an annual reduction in electricity consumption by as much as 76%, i.e. more than 125,600 thousand mWh during the duration of the contract. The reduction of CO₂ emissions will be more than 138,036 thousand tons for the contract period.
Quality lighting is provided in accordance with the EN 13201 standard, better lighting, which contributes to greater safety of citizens. The expected lifetime of lamps and reflectors manufactured by Schreder is 25 years, which is almost twice as long as the duration of the contract.
The City of Subotica had no additional investments in either the first or the second phase, because the project was entirely financed by a private partner, and all installed equipment immediately after installation became the property of the City. The contract concluded for 15 years between the City of Subotica and private partners.
With this public-private partnership project, the City of Subotica reduces its costs and at the same time achieves significant environmental and energy benefits, which is a step towards sustainable development and energy efficiency.
