The 7th UNECE International Forum on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) was held in Athens from May 3 to 5, as well as the "UNECE PPP and Infrastructure Award" competition for PPP projects that contribute to sustainable development goals and the circular economy.
49 projects from all over the world took part in the competition, including two from Serbia: the PPP project for the reconstruction of public lighting in the territory of the city of Zaječar and the project for entrusting the performance of communal activities of passenger transportation in the territory of the city of Bor, of which the project for public lighting in Zaječar, implemented by Smart Energy Investment kfT, received special praise from the International Jury for achieving significant savings in electricity and reducing the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere. This is the first PPP project from Serbia that was presented at an important meeting attended by world-renowned experts in the field of public-private partnership.
The theme of this year's Forum was current and new challenges, as well as opportunities at the global, national and local level in the field of PPP, with a focus on the important combination of green and digital transformations and infrastructure projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was organized by UNECE, in cooperation with the City of Athens, with the support of the Government of Greece.
